Sustaining Member
What Does a "Sustaining Member" Provide?
Sustaining Members provide additional support to the MOA’s Educational Foundation directly benefiting the new low interest loan fund for osteopathic medical students. 100% of your tax deductible contribution will go towards the loan fund. Your contribution provides a long-term commitment, devoted entirely to easing the financial burden for promising Maine students of osteopathic medicine. The Maine Osteopathic Association has worked diligently to expand an already existing medical student loan opportunity, through a $25,000 grant request from the Osteopathic Heritage Fund (OHF) in partnership with the Maine Medical Association. The OHF will then match any funds voluntarily contributed by the osteopathic profession to build the loan program fund. Through this innovative partnership between the Maine Osteopathic Association, the Maine Medical Association and the Osteopathic Heritage Fund, the Maine Osteopathic Association has opened up a new low interest loan opportunity that had not been previously available to osteopathic medical students in Maine, Last year, this medical student loan fund contributed over $278,000 loans to 32 MD students. With this loan fund opened to DO students, it will provide an opportunity for 15% or $45,000 of the available low interest loan funds to be earmarked for osteopathic medical student applications per year on an on-going basis. Simply ~ This is how it will work: The OHF contributes $25,000 up front through the MOA’s grant request. Then, for example, if 200 DO’s and other interested donors, as a Sustaining Member donated $50, $100 or other dollars each, tax deductible to the Maine Osteopathic Association’s Educational Foundation, it would raise a significant amount of funds, with the OHF additionally matching that amount up to $25,000 for a possible grand total of $75,000 to help our next generation of future practicing D.O.’s. |
