Happy National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week April 17-23, 2023!

National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week is a national observance dedicated to spotlighting the osteopathic medical profession and raising awareness about the distinctiveness of osteopathic medicine. The event brings together nearly 142,000 osteopathic physicians and over 36,000 osteopathic medical students from across the country with a common goal: celebrating and sharing the unique body, mind, spirit approach DOs bring to health care.

NOM Week 2022, held April 18-24, marked 130 years since the profession was founded when the country’s first osteopathic medical school opened in 1892. Today, the osteopathic profession continues to chart record-breaking growth and expansion with each passing year. DOs account for approximately 11.5% of all physicians in the United States and one quarter of all medical school graduates. Moreover, DOs hold some of the most prominent positions in medicine, including overseeing care for the President of the United States, the NASA medical team, Olympic athletes and many who serve in the uniformed services.
